Emachine DVD Rom, Compact Disc rewritable can't read CD

I know this is stupid, a DVD Rom will read DVD only. But it used to read both DVD and CD.

My is Emachine with Combo Drive.
It said:
48x Max. Write CD-RW
16x Max. Read DVD

When I first bought it home, it can read both DVD and CD
now it can read DVD only, it stop reading CD for a long time and never read it again.

Why?

I don't even know why I bought this Emachine computer home, and didn't noticed that it has Combo Drive, it is a DVD Rom not both DVD and CD.

well, first problem is your using a emachines comp...they are garbage sorry to say

As for your problem it sounds like either the drive is dieing on you or the lens needs cleaning could try a cleaning kit but since drives are so cheap I would replace it
