Recently my friends told me to avoid using proxy. According to him, some of the proxies actually is a hacker in disguise and instead of concealing your identity, they will steal any personal or secret information that you exchange with other sites. If this is true, then how can we surf anonymously? How about hiding our IP address?

I also use proxy, but dint know about what you say. I hope that not happen.

I don't trust proxy sites, or proxy tools.
I only use them in school, where sites or restricted and not allowed to access.
There was this one time, I installed a free proxy program into my computer, later I found out it is a spy ware program.
